Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's Community section highlights some of the ways that the online Magic community has shown me resourcefulness, creativity, dedication and productive ways to stay connected with Magic and Commander. Despite the public health situation, the Magic community is still having a great time playing Commander. Additionally, I highlight other content creators I enjoy that I think everyone should check out.

The Technical section takes a quick look at the mechanics that were introduced in the Scourge expansion. Some mainstays, and some we'll never see again. But not for the reasons that you think.

This week's Set Retrospective explores Scourge. Where converted mana cost mattered but not really, because we go the most broken mechanic of all time!

If you'd like to give me your thoughts on today's topics, hit me up on Twitter @CadPopCast. You can find me on Facebook, here: Facebook.com/CadPopCast. Both the Twitter and Facebook feeds have threads for each episode of Commander ad Populum. Let me know what you think.

If you'd like to support Commander ad Populum or my altered art Magic card business, you can pledge on Patreon, here: Patreon.com/CadPopCast. There are a bunch of great benefits associated with being a patron. Especially if you're into altered art cards!

Big thank you to the official sponsor of Commander ad Populum, Fusion Gaming for making this episode, and future episodes possible!

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's Community section looks at Magic as a support for people with similar interests or issues. It also looks to the Magic community at large to band together in difficult times. Like with the public health crisis so many of us are facing, currently.

The Technical section takes a quick look at the mechanics that were introduced in the Legions expansion. They were Double Strike, Amplify and Provoke.

This week's Set Retrospective explores Legions! Magic's first all-creature expansion.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week, I sit down with Zack Taylor from Commander Social Podcast. We discuss how Magic has helped him with his anxiety at work and when he goes out to social functions. He uses examples of when he's traveled to MagicFests, either to grind the main event, or to jam casual Commander. We compare how he communicates with those at his day job to how he communicates with people he plays Magic with.
Finally, Zack has some tips and some take home messages, if you suffer from some level of generalize or social anxiety.

Make sure to follow Zack on Twitter, here: https://twitter.com/z4ck38 and Commander Social, here: https://twitter.com/commandersocial

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community section thanks all that had taken part in Commander ad Populum's recent social media campaign. The goal was to help those in the online Magic community who may be struggling in areas of their life. Additionally, there was great input from members of the community who feel successful in areas of their life and who were willing to lend a hand or a pair of ears. Thank you to all who took part!

In today's technical section, we take a quick look at the Morph mechanic. It has some intricate stack interactions and doesn't always trigger, or use the stack, like one may think.

This week's set retrospective: Onslaught! The introductory set for the Morph mechanic and Magic's first ever tribal set. Onslaught contained many powerful cards. The original cycle of fetch lands as well as several banned cards in the Commander format.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community section tells the story of one listener and community member who went on an amazing weight-loss journey. Along the way, he opened up a game store and let the gaming lifestyle, and diet, creep back in to his life. With encouragement from his gaming friends and family though, he's determined to continue fighting the good fight that is weight-loss and a healthy lifestyle.

This week's set retrospective: Judgment! The final set in the Odyssey block. This 2002 small set brought us many hidden-gem sleeps as well as several Commander format all stars.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community section looks at a few ways to add value to your Magic collection. By prioritizing lands cards, keeping things sorted and being able to access things to trade to our friends, we can make sure we are making sound collectible trading card decisions.

This week's set retrospective: Torment! As the second set in the Odyssey block, Torment was a great set that features many playable cards for the Commander format, as well as several interesting legendary creatures.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week's community section leans into how individual games of Commander are special. Each is unique and fleeting. If it's a good game, savor and cherish it. If it's a bad game, just remember that it's one game of many. The take home message, focus on having fun with your friends because you only get one Commander game that is this exact game.

The technical section this week focuses back on battlefield organization and coming to games prepared. Proper dice and tokens are must-have pieces of game equipment. It makes the experience that is Commanders a much high quality one, for all involved.

This week's set retrospective: Odyssey! Set roughly one-hundred years after the Dominarian Invasion, this set was the introductory set for mechanics like Flashback and Threshold.

Welcome to another very special episode of Commander ad Populum. Commander for the people, by the people, for the people.

This week, I discuss what I think it takes to be successful. I give my thoughts on tangible goal setting, commitment and making things happen. Whatever 'it' is, all you have to do is decide that you want something. Truly decide. Everything else will move around you, at that point.

This week's set retrospective: Apocalypse! The conclusion to the Invasion block and the original wedge color set. Apocalypse has some super slick commander gems and a few very unique cycles that paved the way for future card design.
